Lost Episode 21: Event #52, $1K NL HE w/Rebuys

The tension seems to be building in the Amazon room as the 4th of July weekend approaches, which means the main event is just around the corner.  My assignment today is for the rebuy NL holdem event.  I wasn't assigned to either of the Omaha rebuy events, so I didn't have to deal with cash/tourney chips in the tray.  No cash is allowed.  All players must buy Rio cash game chips to exchange for their anticipated rebuys.  Players can buy chips from other players at the table, but the dealers do not handle any cash.  We are also allowed to accept cash game chips from other Harrah's properties and the Bellagio.  But we are given an audited number of extra tournament chips for rebuys and after the break the cash chips in our drawer must equal the number of missing tournament rebuy chips - or else, the difference comes out of OUR pockets/paycheck.  I don't think this ever happened, though.  Too expensive of a mistake for most dealers.

Again, it seemed as if there were too few dealers scheduled.  I ended up dealing to the my initially assigned table for six consecutive downs.  After a break, I managed three more downs in this event before having my table broken and being redirected to the cash games area.  No mistakes or floor calls on this day, I must be getting the hang of things finally.  The only recognizable professionals that I dealt to were Padraig Parkinson from Ireland and Andrew Vandecamp.

The next two days are my off-days, but there is some sort of dealer party on the 4th of July that I did make it to the Rio for.  Free BBQ and several dealers brought family.  Not so much of the adult beverage scene, so I skipped out early and went to Red Rock with some friends to play and watch a fight.

I had one more dealing day before the main event.  On the 5th, I spent the whole day trying to make some cash in the satellites area and cash games.  There was a media event and a charity tournament, but I didn't get selected for either of them.  No bracelet events today, just lots and lots of satellites.  I did recognize Arnold Spee at one of my satellite tables.
