Speedbump Arrives

Well, yesterday was another exciting day at the WSOP. Record attendance, more problems with registration lines lead to event delays, and the card debacle continues. Still, I had a great time. I got 7 downs in Event #3, the $1500 No-Limit Holdem event that smashed last years record field size, and then moved into the restart of Event #1, the $5k Mixed Limit Holdem event. I have some good stories to tell, but my internet access is limited this morning, and I need to get to work. Today's events will be challenging. At noon, the first Pot-Limit Holdem event starts, and then at 5pm, a mixed event with Omaha Hi/Lo 8 and Stud Hi/Lo 8 alternating every level. I am ready for all these games, if a bit anxious. I am starting to feel very comfortable in the box, dealing with players that have loads more experience than anyone I have regularly dealt to, and I am pretty sure that I am not showing how green I really am. Still, I need lots more work, and will be practicing during off periods and attending my dealer school on off days.

Mark came into town last night. We went to the Sahara for a bit, and he's on a major blackjack tear and playing well above his bankroll. I fear he will be broke tomorrow, but as long as he is winning, it is fun to be around. He tipped one of the other players at the table last night for cutting the decks on a winning shoe - which was a nice gesture, but the amount was excessive, in fact more than my buy-in to the poker tournament (which I busted out in less than 3 levels). He is something else. My savior right now, as I still don't have a place to stay settled.

I should be able to catch up on some posts this evening. I haven't looked at any stats to see who might be reading or monitoring this blog. But if you take a few moments to leave a comment, I will respond personally with an email or text message from time to time. Any questions out there?

Great blog brother. The WSOP sounds like a rush of energy every minute. I especially love the pics of you dealing that you linked to. I'm with dad, learning some of the lingo from your site, but much of it still passes me bye. Any chance you can link to a good glossary of poker slang, or start explaining some of the key terms? Anyway, have a great time in LV. (Interested in meeting at Tahoe for July 4th?) Lil' Bro

Glad things are going well. Hopefully your tournament play will improve. You're dealing with professionals now, try to act like it.
